About The Founder

Sandy Wood-Dunham, BS Ed., is a former middle-school math teacher and the 1986 founder of The ABBIT Society Honor Roll Program. Ms. Dunham founded the honor roll program after realizingSandyHorse..jpg students needed something to encourage them to care about their grades. Based upon her theory that adults work hard at their jobs for recognition, rewards and benefits, Ms. Dunham simply applied the same theory to her program. She felt students would be more interested in making good grades if they thought there would be benefits for their hard work. Her theory worked! After introducing the program in the fall of 1986, at Sam Houston Middle School in Marshall, Texas, the school’s honor roll increased 48% the very next grading period! Teachers began reporting that students were much more interested in making good grades because they wanted to be an ABBIT member! The program has been so successful that Sam Houston Middle School continues to use the program, now more than twenty years later.

In the early 1990’s, due to unfortunate circumstances, Ms. Dunham sold the rights to her program. Always hoping to regain ownership, Ms. Dunham was finally given the opportunity in January of 2007. Now with the partnership of her daughter Haley Wood-Bradbury, Ms. Dunham and Ms. Bradbury have made raising grades in schools across the nation their passion!  In 2006, more than 30,000 students across America enjoyed the benefits of being a member of their school’s ABBIT Society Honor Roll Program!

When she isn’t busy talking to schools about her program or teaming with Ms. Bradbury to develop exciting new products, Ms. Dunham enjoys raising quarter horses and participating in the competitive sport of barrel racing.

Please feel free to contact Ms. Dunham, or Ms. Bradbury, with your questions.
